Recipe Disclaimer

Recipes should make dinner easier. They cannot predict your oven’s mood, check the temperature of your chicken, or know what someone at your table is allergic to. This page explains the limits of the recipes and cooking information shared on Save Me a Bite.

What Our Recipes Are For

Save Me a Bite provides recipes, cooking ideas, and kitchen information for general informational purposes. Our content is not personalized medical advice, dietary treatment, or professional food safety instruction.

You are responsible for deciding whether a recipe, ingredient, technique, or piece of equipment is appropriate for your household. Read the complete recipe before starting, including ingredient notes, preparation instructions, and any safety guidance.

Food Safety Comes First

Cooking times are estimates. A browned top, bubbling sauce, or confident-looking cheese crust does not prove that food has reached a safe internal temperature. Use a food thermometer when appropriate and follow current food safety guidance. USDA guidance lists 165°F as the safe minimum internal temperature for casseroles and leftovers. Handle ingredients safely, prevent cross-contamination, and refrigerate perishable food promptly. Follow appropriate storage and reheating practices for the ingredients involved. Clean, separate, cook, and chill are the basic steps recommended by the CDC to help prevent foodborne illness. CDC

If a recipe instruction conflicts with an ingredient recall, equipment safety warning, or current public health guidance, follow the relevant safety guidance.

Allergies and Dietary Needs

You are responsible for checking every ingredient for allergens and suitability for your dietary needs. Read current packaging, including sauces, seasonings, broths, toppings, and other ingredients that may contain unexpected components.

Product formulas can change. An ingredient that worked for you previously may have different ingredients the next time you buy it.

Descriptions such as “gluten-free,” “dairy-free,” or similar terms do not guarantee that your finished meal will meet a particular dietary requirement. The products you choose, substitutions you make, and conditions in your kitchen matter. Consider possible cross-contact from utensils, cookware, preparation surfaces, and shared equipment.

If you have a food allergy, medical condition, or prescribed diet, consult an appropriate healthcare professional when you need individualized guidance.

Cooking Times and Results Will Vary

Ovens, stovetops, cookware, ingredient temperatures, and ingredient brands can all affect a recipe. So can pan depth, altitude, portion size, and measuring methods.

Preparation times, cooking times, serving counts, and yields are estimates. Use the recipe’s instructions and doneness checks together, with food safety taking priority over the clock. The site’s recipe timing and doneness guidance explains how to interpret these estimates in practice.

We aim to provide useful, accurate instructions, but we do not guarantee a particular result or that every recipe will suit every taste. Unfortunately, a disclaimer cannot make everyone agree about onions.

Substitutions and Recipe Changes

Changing ingredients, increasing quantities, using a different pan, or switching cooking methods can change texture, cooking time, and food safety considerations.

A suggested substitution is not a guarantee of identical results. Do not assume that raw and cooked ingredients are interchangeable or that doubling a recipe means doubling its cooking time.

Unless specifically stated, do not assume that every variation or substitution has been tested.

Recipe Testing and Images

A recipe’s presence on this website does not, by itself, mean that every version has been personally kitchen-tested. Any statement about testing applies only to the recipe or variation described.

Images are visual references. Some images may be generated or digitally edited illustrations. They are not proof of recipe testing, exact serving size, doneness, or a guaranteed finished result.

Your dinner does not need to look like the picture to be worth making again.

Nutrition Information

When nutrition information is provided, it is an estimate. Actual values depend on ingredient brands, quantities, substitutions, serving sizes, and preparation methods.

We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of nutrition calculations. Do not rely on these estimates alone for medication dosing, management of a medical condition, or a prescribed diet.

Kitchen Equipment

Use appliances, cookware, knives, and other kitchen equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Check whether your baking dish is suitable for the intended temperature and cooking method. Do not assume that every dish can safely go under a broiler, onto a stovetop, or directly from a cold environment into a hot oven.

Canning and Long-Term Preservation

Our ordinary cooking recipes should not be adapted into shelf-stable canning recipes. Cooking something for dinner and preserving it safely for months require different methods.

For home canning, use a tested recipe and the specified process from a reliable preservation resource, such as the National Center for Home Food Preservation. nchfp.uga.edu

Reader Comments and Outside Resources

Reader comments, personal variations, and third-party resources may contain advice we have not reviewed or tested. Their appearance on this website does not establish that they are safe, accurate, or suitable for your circumstances.

Use your judgment and verify safety-related advice before following it.
